Thing 17

I found Rollyo simple to use and it will be very helpful in class. Instead of just listing sites on my webpage, I will use rollyo to categorize them, so students can search through sites directly related to our content. I never knew all of this "stuff" was out there! I put my math games rollyo on this blog.

Thing 16

Wikis...I like them and UNDERSTAND them. Yea! I posted to the SBISD wiki, and I also explored many other wikis. I can see the endless possibilities for using them in the classroom. I like the idea of a top 10 list, as well as collaborative note taking. It could also be used for taking table notes (just like that one library wiki). Students, at their tables, could add information about a topic, and it could all be tracked on a wiki.

Thing 15

Library 2.0. I think it is a major improvement from when I was learning to use a library. I remember drawers with little cards that helped me find books and research material. I LOVE the endless possibilities with library 2.0, however, when I am researching a topic, I look up and 3 hours have flown by! It is great to have this much information at our fingertips (and at students' fingertips), but it can be time consuming!!!

Thing 14

Technorati......I wasn't really sure if this was something that would be useful to me in the classroom, until I explored some other player's blogs. I found some interesting info on blogs that has inspired me to give Technorati a second look. I will try using it for research info (I teach math and science), and for finding videos. And on the subject of tags...I think they are great. I have started using them in my blog posts!

Thing 13

de.licio.us is terrific! I searched many math and science sites and added them to my favorites. I also have started adding friends to my network. That is extremely helpful. I have one particular friend who LOVES to find awesome websites, and she always emails them to me. Now I can just go to one place and connect to so many wonderful sites. If anyone teaches 5th grade math and or science, please comment me with your delicious account name, so that I may add you to my network! If anyone is interested, I am gartnerh on delicious!

Thing 12

I have visited and commented on a few library 2 play blogs. And I know all of the articles say that in commenting, you should add to the discussion. However, I myself, do enjoy those friendly comments that keep me going. I appreciate a little comment that boosts my confidence. I will be searching for blogs that interest me, and I will be back to add to this post later on.

Thing 11

I created a library thing account. It was fun looking up all my books I've read and I read many comments from other readers. I think this site is a great idea. I suppose students could set up an account as well, or maybe a class account?
